Mission Year

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

Looking for an opportunity to serve Christ in a powerful way for a year? Try Mission Year!  It is a radical opportunity for Christian young people to live out the simplest and most important commandment of Jesus: “Love the Lord your God, and love your neighbor as yourself.” By living and working for a year in a low-income, urban neighborhood, partnering with a local church, volunteering at a social service agency, and spending time with neighbors, our Mission Year team members effectively impact their communities while catching a deeper vision for what the Kingdom of God is like.  Experience living out justice, peace, reconciliation and “Beloved Community” with our marginalized brothers and sisters.  From September to August Mission Year teams serve in Atlanta, Chicago, New Orleans, Philadelphia, Camden, and Wilmington.  Live what matters!  To check out this amazing opportunity, visit www.missionyear.org for more information and an online application.  Or call Ashley Pharis, a Mission Year alum and current staff member (who was also a Butler Bulldog!) at 574-215-4783.

Volunteers Needed

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

Hey everyone… hope you’re having a great day!
We’re in need of a little help. If you are free October 31st or November 15th from 10-1, Butler is holding another “block party”, but this time, it is for prospective Butler students. We really want Campus Crusade to be represented, but in order for that to happen, we need people to man the tables. It would probably only be a 1 hour shift, and all you would have to do is answer questions about Crusade and hand out cool stuff to high school seniors and their parents. We need at least 6 people to help out, so if you are interested, please email lbeeson@butler.edu with what day/time you are available!

Christian Leadership Training

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

As the semester has reached the midway point, some of you have begun to realize that you are not as connected as you’d like to be, and that you desire more opportunities to grow and learn in your faith. Many of you have asked that we do something on a more regular basis and not just connect monthly at the Well. The staff have responded to those wants and needs and we’ve created the Christian Leadership Training times for the next 7 weeks. The second meeting is tomorrow night at 9:15 in JH141. If you’re feeling disconnected, lonely, tired, busy, hungry, or longing for another opportunity to grow in your relationship with God, then you need to be there tomorrow night. Come open God’s Word, worship, and pray with students from all over campus. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Derek Joseph at Derekrjoseph@gmail.com. We hope to see you there.
